Bikaner city of Rajasthan is famous for its desert and Camel who are it's ship of deserts. Bikaner is famous for its camel, camel rides etc. The Camel are important animals for the desert ecosystem, they are made in such a way that they survive easily in the desert region. The unique qualities of Camel make them live in the extreme climate of semi arid and arid region. These ships of desert are main mode of transportation of desert. Also their power to restore water and food in their humps to survive several days without food and water, Camel are very helpful for village folks. Taking the importance of Camel for village folks the National Research Centre On Camel India was instituted in Bikaner.
About National Research Centre On Camel: Bikaner being a desert region, the Camel were the only mode of transportation for villagers and Camel were used for occupation thus it was a need to take care of the Camel and their proper breeding. Considering this the government of India initiated a project for Camel on 5th July in the year of 1985 in Bikaner which was later upgraded and turned into National Research Centre On Camel in the year 1995 on 20 September.
Tourist visit National Research Centre On Camel to see the various types of camel breeds and their behavioural properties. This research centre is a special tourist attraction for domestic as well as foreign tourists. There is also a camel museum where a deeper knowledge about Camel can be sought and knowledge about desert region and the camel's adaptability in it. There is also a camel milk parlour where one can enjoy ice creams of camel milk and various camel milk products. Activities like camel rides and camel desert safaris are also there for tourists to enjoy. The NRCC is listed among the main tourist spot of Bikaner National Research Centre On Camel.
