    Withstanding the desecration of time  the Junagarh Fort still stands strong and proud in Bikaner at Rajasthan India. This fort was earlier called as Chintamani Fort and later on was renamed as Junagarh fort. Sometimes it is also called as ' Old Fort '. This tenacious fort was tried to be invaded by many but it has remained unconquered and tenacious which is something spectacular about Junagarh Fort. Raja Rai Singh built this imposing fort in 1503A.D , he was also an Army general in the army of Akbar who was a great Mughal emperor. Junagarh Fort India is one of the most famous forts of India and thereby being a great tourist spot for history lovers.

    The structure composed of red sandstones and marble is an excellent example of the exquisiteness of the architecture at that time. Tourists visit Junagarh fort to behold and absorb the refinement of the place. The architecture clearly depicts the greatness and lifestyles of the maharajas of Rajasthan. The courtyards, intricate carvings and paintings on the walls, windows, kiosks, balconies all assorted together forming a splendid piece of structure. There are seven gates of the fort opening to many palaces and temples. The golden and red carvings on the red sandstone will leave you amazed . The Junagarh fort India from inside is painted with beautiful paintings that mirror the stories and greatness of the rulers of Rajasthan. Sixteen rulers of Bikaner one after the another worked on this fort in their respective reign. As a result this fort is remarkably statuesque and baroque containing an old jail, seven muscular gates, few mausoleums of several deities, nine captivating temples, three bewitching gardens , post gothic barracks and stables all these together make this the main tourist spot of Bikaner Junagarh Fort. The Junagarh fort resuscitate the glory and greatness of Bikaner and its rulers. The fort timing is from 10:00AM to 4:30PM and is open throughout the week.
