Withstanding the desecration of time the Junagarh Fort still stands strong and proud in Bikaner at Rajasthan India. This fort was earlier called as Chintamani Fort and later on was renamed as Junagarh fort. Sometimes it is also called as ' Old Fort '. This tenacious fort was tried to be invaded by many but it has remained unconquered and tenacious which is something spectacular about Junagarh Fort. Raja Rai Singh built this imposing fort in 1503A.D , he was also an Army general in the army of Akbar who was a great Mughal emperor. The structure composed of red sandstones and marble is an excellent example of the exquisiteness of the architecture at that time. As a result this fort is remarkably statuesque and baroque containing an old jail, seven muscular gates, few mausoleums of several deities, nine captivating temples, three bewitching gardens , post gothic barracks and stables all these together make this the main tourist spot of Bikaner Junagarh Fort. The Junagarh fort resuscitate the glory and greatness of Bikaner and its rulers. The fort timing is from 10:00AM to 4:30PM and is open throughout the week.
