Bharatpur Bird Sanctuary or now known as Keoladeo Ghana National Park is one of the most popular and most visited tourist spot in Bharatpur Rajasthan. Around 250 years ago this sanctuary was brought into existence and was named after Lord Shiva's temple known as Keoladeo temple. Later in 1971 this park was asserted as a sanctuary to protect birds and flora fauna part of ecosystem. Earlier this area was used as hunting ground by the kings and now this swampland has been converted into a protected land which also prevents floods and it is a grazing ground for cattle now. The sanctuary is open at all times of the year but the best time to visit this place is from August to November and for those who wish to see migratory birds they must come between October to February.
