Alwar the city of the very well known and famous historic buildings carries the very famous and imposing fort known as the Bhangarh Fort in its bosom. People who have an inclination towards history and ghost stories related to it must visit Bhangarh Fort. The fort was built by king Madho Singh in the 1613 AD. There are many legends associated with the fort some saying that the place was cursed and within a night whole Bhangarh was destroyed and ghosts of the village still reside in the arena. Bhangarh Fort India is said to be the most haunted place in India. The Archaeological Survey of India have put their seal outside the fort stating to leave the fort premises before sunset.
Leaving the stories, the fort is in ruins mostly but still the architectural perfection of the fort can be seen in its ruins even. On entering the fort there are temples of deities like Shiva, Hanuman, Ganesha, Gopinath and Mangla Devi. Four major gates named as Ajmeri gate, Lahori Gate, Phulbari gate and Delhi gate surround the fort. Along with a palace and a Haveli there are residences of the priests of that time and at the back there is a mosque too which clearly explains the kings harmonious believe in both the religions. The massive fort is main tourist spot of Alwar Bhangarh Fort. The bewitching historic remains of the fort and the legends related to it attract tourists towards itself from all parts of the world. The fort timings are strictly from 6:00am to 6:00pm everyday.
